Communications to protect and expand civil rights and stop abuse of power

As a communication partner to civil rights law firm Hadsell Stormer Renick & Dai LLP, we’ve used the media spotlight to defend Angelenos against corporate and institutional abuses of power, including heartbreaking police violence and systemic racism.

We do the delicate work of meeting with and listening to families who have experienced unimaginable injustices, and we support and equip them to effectively tell their stories. We produce press conferences that generate news coverage, applying needed pressure to push for system change.

Pushing for system change in crisis response to mental illness

We generated media coverage that pushed the City of Long Beach to settle with the family of Mharloun Saycon, a mentally disabled man who was unlawfully killed by police called to help transport him to the hospital when he was need of care.

Forcing reckonings to end police violence

Our work secured media coverage of similar tragic abuses in Whittier, where police illegally restrained and killed Jonathan Salcido, who was in need of mental health support, while his parents watched, and in Los Angeles, where LAPD officers shot and killed Charly Keunang on Skid Row, after pulling him from his tent while he was sleeping.

Protecting LGBTQ rights against illegal corporate discrimination

We helped reverse a multi-billion dollar corporation’s illegal refusal to recognize LGBT marriage on behalf of Judith Dominguez and her wife Patricia Martinez—witnessing a dramatic policy change within days of producing a press conference for the couple.
